Arcadia by Tom Stoppard
Are you interested in carnal embrace? Do you ever plumb the depths of the mysteries of the universe? Have you ever wondered if our vision of the past is even remotely correct? You will find the answers to these questions (and more than is dreamed of in your philosophy) at the Haviland Club February 2015 when ACT (a community theatre) presents Arcadia, directed by Marieve MacGregor and produced by Kim Johnston, stage managed by Melissa Piccioni.
Arcadia is a 1993 play by Tom Stoppard concerning the relationship between past and present, order and disorder, certainty and uncertainty. It has been praised by many critics as the finest play from one of the most significant contemporary playwrights in the English language. Tom Stoppard's chatty and charming play about love, literature and the second law of thermodynamics takes place in scenes set two centuries apart, but in the same room of an English country house called Sidley Park. ACT will be presenting this intelligent and witty show in the extremely intimate environment of the Haviland Club; it's historical and classic architecture suits the play perfectly, juxtaposing the modern with the classic. This won't just be theatre, it will be an experience.
Arcadia will explain life, the universe and everything significant in five big performances in February 2015, from the fifth to the eighth. Until then, keep your eyes on the town for some random acts of theatre by our troupe. You can also follow all of the hijinks leading up to the show on Twitter @arcadiapei2015.
