An Evening with LA Opera: Women and the Law
Dr. Catherine Allgor, the Huntington's Director of Education, will discuss the marriage and property laws of "coverture," which held that women had no legal identity. Following the talk, James Conlon and artists from LA Opera will introduce music that explores female agency and power in opera, including excerpts from works such as The Marriage of Figaro.
