Oasis Coffeehouse Presents: Danielle Doyle
New to the Boston music scene, Danielle has been quickly and quietly turning heads at open mics and venues throughout the area. A true performer, her songs are best heard when she's singing them live, when beautiful melodies, velvet vocals, and rich lyrics are interspersed with off-the-wall and often hilarious banter. Danielle is currently working on her debut EP The Cartographer's Wife,  a collection of stories about love, home, longing, and a little bit of murder. Danielle grew up in the suburbs of Boston where she began soaking up the narrative folk music of Lori McKenna, Ellis Paul, Kris Delmhorst and many others at Club Passim. Later she followed her musical roots to Oberlin College. During her time at Oberlin, she organized the annual folk festival, booked performers and worked shows at the Cat in the Cream Coffeehouse, founded and ran the open mic nights there, and even performed a bit. Throughout college, she had the opportunity to work and intern for the managers of some of her favorite musicians including Josh Ritter, and James Taylor. Aside from the songs themselves, Danielle is dedicated to the community that forms around music, especially among emerging musicians. So for her first album Danielle enlisted her friends and artistic peers that she met through various music communities including Oberlin, the open mic scene in Boston, and music classes at Passim. Together they'll be armed with the traditional vocals, guitar, bass, drums, and piano as well as glockenspiel, trumpet, melodica, oboe, handclaps, and more. The Cartographer's Wife is due out in early 2010, but until then check out The Cartographer's Wife blog, as Danielle documents the recording process and being a 100% DIY musician: http://danielledoylemusic.blogspot.com "Danielle Doyle is often as entertaining in between songs as she is when playing them... Her quirky, quick-witted humor sets everyone at ease and then her songs, with brilliant imagery and soft-spoken honesty blew us away."  Tom Bianchi
