From two seemingly opposite ends of the world, the two American musicians Brad Hammonds on 6/12 string acoustic guitar and Mazz Swift on violin and vocals share one global musical vision. Their simple ideal is to combine all of the music that they love without adhering to stylistic guidelines or parameters and they succeed, in a sometimes cacophonous, sometimes very straightforward, always elegant, but also sometimes swooping-around-and-hitting-you-in-the-back-of-the-head sort of way. Inspired by traditional Eastern and Western compositions, Brazz Tree's musical vision dubbed New World Acoustic Rock, or Music NWAR fuses folk-inspired, percussive riff-based guitar lines with traditional and original folk and fiddle tunes underneath the soulful singing of conscious lyrics. Although it draws on traditional forms born in places as far-flung as Ireland and India, Music NWAR remains firmly rooted in the exuberant, questing ethos of the New World. At VAE, Hammonds and Swift will be joined by Marika Hughes on cello and Alan Camlet on cajn drums and percussion.
