The Ford Building Project
Gallery Homeland at The Ford Building Portland, OR
The architecturally-based dance company, POV Dance, will premiere its first evening length work in March of 2010 at the historic Ford Building, located at SE 11th Avenue and Division Street. The Ford Building Project will be performed throughout the ground floor of the building. Nine dancers will gracefully guide a traveling audience through the common spaces, from one end of the building to the other. Audience members will be offered intimate and unexpected perspectives on dancers as they glide up and down stairwells, propel off walls and hang from windows and rails. Viewers will discover something new around every corner as they are led through this unique building's cavernous hallways. POV Dance will transform the ground floor of the building into a moving landscape of architecture, bodies, light and sound. This production would not be possible without the sponsorship of Gallery Homeland, Regional Arts & Culture Council and Work for Art, as well as all of our individual donors.
Note: Audience members are advised that they will be an active participant in the performance. There will be no seats. Audience members will be standing, walking, or seated on the floor throughout the performance.
