Mike, in his own words: "It seems like Iâve been doing this for a long time. My first band was when I was a freshman in High School. I was immediately hooked on this music stuff for all the usual reasons. It was what drove me. So then I went off to college (Dodge City!) and played in some cover bands. We wore makeup and played college bars and biker bars in Nebraska, Kansas (of course), Colorado, etc.

"Klyde Konnor in the mid 80âs was the first of my bands; kind of pop, psychedelic, garage, folk, or whatever. I played in Klyde then moved to San Francisco with my talented wife Jill.
We started The Old Joe Clarks in SF in â94 or so. This was a more serious, somber, acoustic type of thing than anything Iâd ever been in. Iâd really become more interested in rustic and rural folk, country blues, etc. We worked hard, made a record, got a record deal, tried to tour. Iâm still very proud of what the Old Joes have accomplished and hope they continue for a long time.

"After moving to Portland in '99, Iâve had a great amount of creative fun producing and engineering records for some great musicians and songwriters. Some of those that Iâve worked with include M Ward, Richmond Fontaine, Beth Orton, and many other praiseworthy Having the home attic studio here in Portland has been great. The funny thing is, I basically wanted the studio to record my stuff first and other peoples stuff second. Itâs worked out the other way around, but thatâs cool, itâs been great. Wouldnât change a thing."
