An Evening with Steve Lopez

As the major opening event for the Long Beach Public Library Foundation's Book Week, Steve Lopez, author of the best seller,The Soloist, will talk with Long Beach Press Telegram Executive Editor Rich Archbold, about the significant issues his book raises: music, mental health, homelessness, journalism and the power of friendship. Long Beach Polytechnic High School Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Andy Osman, will open the evening with a Beethoven-inspired musical program in the beautiful sanctuary of the First Congregational Church of Long Beach. Mr. Lopez will sign books after the program. Please bring assorted books for collection and distribution to the homeless.
Note: All seating will be unassigned so please get there early! Doors will open at 6:15 pm. There is limited access for wheelchairs in the church. We ask that you leave children under the age of five at home. Parking will be available at the Civic Center parking structure at 100 West Broadway between Chestnut Avenue and Cedar Avenue, two short blocks south of the church. The fee is $6.00. Handicapped parking is available in the structure. Thank you.
