Tommy Sands with Moya and Fionan Sands
Hailed in 'Sing Out!' as 'the most powerful songwriter in Ireland, if not the rest of the word,' the 'enchanting, irresistible and charming' Tommy Sands has achieved something akin to legendary status in his own lifetime. Proclaimed as 'the Irish Pete Seeger,' Sands is that rare combination of singer, songwriter, guitarist, storyteller and social activist. His songs of peace and hope, including 'There Were Roses' and 'Daughters and Sons,' have chronicled the sorrow and helped to bring about the joyful change in native Northern Ireland and been covered by countless artists worldwide, Joan Baez, Dick Gaughan, Kathy Mattea and The Dubliners, among them. Celebrating the recent CD release of 'Let the Circle Be Wide,' Tommy is joined in concert by his daugher Moya on fiddle, whistle, dancing and harmony vocals and his son Fionan on mandolin, banjo and harmony vocals.
