The Elves and the Shoemakers
The story begins on the streets of a small village set long ago, where elves lived along side the people of the land. As Christmas Carolers sing outside, three shoemakers are working in their humble workshop. Little elves sneak into the workshop at night and make a pair of shoes from the supplies that are left on the workbench. The shoemakers sell them the next day and use the money to buy leather to make more shoes. Each evening the elves return and make new shoes. One night, the shoemakers stay up late and find the elves in their workshop. Happily, they decide to make clothes for the elves and leave them out for their helpers as gifts. The elves return and are delighted with their new clothes. According to folklore, once the elves receive their clothing, they leave and are never seen again.
