An Evening with Mike Lupica
On Thursday, November 13, bestselling author and prominent sportswriter Mike Lupica will present a lecture with Q&A at Schenectady County Community College. The talk will be in the Taylor Auditorium at 7:00 PM with a booksigning at 8:00. Mr. Lupica's appearance is a fundraising event to benefit the Foundation for Mohawk Valley Libraries.
Mike Lupica is an award-winning sportswriter who currently anchors the ESPN show "The Sports Reporters" and hosts "The Mike Lupica Show" on ESPN2. He appears frequently on TV and radio and has written a regular syndicated column for The Daily News since 1977.
As an author, Mike Lupica is best known for his sports-themed young adult novels. But he has also been very successful as an author of adult fiction and nonfiction. He has co-written biographies of Reggie Jackson and Bill Parcells and authored several books on the sports business and professional sports. His first adult novel, Dead Air, was nominated for the Edgar Allen Poe award. His bestselling young adult books include Heat, Travel Team, and his 2014 release, Fantasy League.
In addition to the talk, Mr. Lupica will mingle with guests at a pre-lecture catered reception to be held in the Van Curler Room at SCCC from 5:00 through 6:30 PM. The cost to attend this fundraising event is $40 for adults and $20 for youth for the lecture, and $80 for adults and $40 for youth for the reception/lecture combination. The Foundation for Mohawk Valley Libraries is a new nonprofit organization that will raise money to help the Mohawk Valley Library System and its fourteen member public libraries provide library service in Schenectady, Schoharie, Fulton and Montgomery counties.
