We are pleased to invite you to the first "Doing Jewish Off the Grid: Politics, Identity, and Spirituality" conference. Jewish community from diverse backgrounds and leanings whether you're orthodox, reform, reconstructionist or secular, politically active or neutral are invited to join us for a gathering of workshops and discussions, networking, and brainstorming. Everyone is welcome.
The conference will begin on the evening of Saturday October 25th with the Jewish ritual, Havdalah, signifying the end of Shabbat and the start of a new week. Havdalah will be followed by Daniel Thau-Eleff's one man show "Good People, Bad Things", in order to highlight the interconnection between Jewish identity, politics and spirituality.
On Sunday October 26th we will be hosting a full day of workshops at the Steelworkers Hall (25 Cecil St, Toronto). Our intention for this day is to create a space that recognizes the diversity of Jewish perspectives, to movement build with progressive Jewish community, and to generate alternative discussion around issues that do not currently hold enough space in the mainstream. This gathering is an opportunity for those marginalized within Jewish community-- by race, class, ability, gender, sexual identity, political beliefs, or other factors--to come together to network, form projects, and strategize.
