The Color of Film & Haley House Bakery Cafe invite you to an encore
DINNER & A MOVIE screening event on Friday, NOVEMBER 20, 2009
back by popular demand (originally screened Oct. 23, 2009) The MORGAN SPURLOCK film: "SIMPLY RAW: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days"
an independent film (by SPURLOCK, producer of the "Super size me" documentary) that chronicles six people with 'incurable' diabetes, switching their diet and getting off insulin. The film follows each participant's remarkable journey and captures the medical, physical, and emotional transformations brought on by their new eating habits and lifestyle change.
ZAKIYA ALAKE of Abundance Catering will keep the special menu for this screening All The Way Live with: ~ Thai-Inspired Collard Green Spring Rolls w/Almond Butter, Mango, Cabbage and Agave-Tamarind-Mango Dipping Sauce ~ Vegan Maki Rolls: with Portobello, Avocado and Pickled Ginger and Raw-Style Barley ~ Dinner Salad featuring Portobello Cerviche, "cooked" in a lime juice, ginger and salt bath overnight; Ribbons of Zuccini and Summer Squash and a Veritable Veggie Mash Up of Lettuce, Cabbage, Carrots and Squash with an Avocado/Citrus dressing and for Dessert: ~ Apple Fetti - shoestrings of apple in traditional "apple pie" spice topped with cashew "creme" sweetened by agave.
Doors open at 5:30pm. Open seating. Dinner & Dessert 6 - 6:45 pm Documentary 7 - 8:30pm Discussion 8:30 - 9:30ish led by Nina LaNegra of The Roxbury Media Institute
Tickets are $23 per person ($5 movie, $15 dinner plus $3 gratuity.) (Organic beer, bio-dynamic wine, a wide array of non-alcoholic beverages and drink tips are additional.)
