ANA GUERRERO
Chief of Staff, Office of Mayor Eric Garcetti

Ana Guerrero serves as Mayor Eric Garcetti's Chief of Staff. In this capacity, she is the primary driver of his agenda to improve neighborhoods, create jobs and make City Hall work better, and directs all aspects of the Office of the Mayor.

Guerrero has worked with Garcetti since he was first elected to the City Council in 2001. She was appointed as his Council Office Chief of Staff in 2008, after serving as his District Director and Deputy Chief of Staff. As Garcetti's top aide during his Council Presidency she worked closely with the City's leadership to negotiate unprecedented budget and pension reforms.

Garcetti's Council District underwent a dramatic transformation with the help of Guerrero's leadership, including being ranked number one in job growth. Guerrero helped develop and implement key initiatives such as Garcetti's Neighborhood Leadership Institute, Uniting Neighborhoods to Abolish Graffiti, and tripling the number of parks from 16 to 48.

Guerrero brings extensive community organizing experience to her role as the Mayor's chief strategist. She began her organizing career in 1990 with the Sonoma County Faith Based Community Organizing Project where she organized low and middle income families around issues such as job creation and affordable housing. She came to Los Angeles in 1995 to become the lead organizer of the United Neighborhoods Organization (UNO). There, she led a campaign that helped more than 5,000 immigrants become naturalized, politically active citizens. She has also provided technical assistance to community-based organizations through the Center for Community Change.

Guerrero is an elected member of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party (AD43) and is Second Vice President of the Latino Democrats of Los Angeles County. She remains active in community organizing through her service on the board of the Needmor Family Fund. Guerrero is an immigrant from Mexico and is the daughter of farm workers. She is married to Neal Goldstein and is the mother of three children ages 23, 10, and 8.
