Diego Piñón's innovative style of teaching and performance incorporates more than 35 years of research in Mexican energetic traditions, Japanese Butoh, ritual dance, modern dance and contemporary theatre. Performing and teaching throughout North America, Diego brings a profound spirit of exploration to the dancing body, using movement and symbol to strip away assumptions, social, cultural, and personal. Butoh Ritual Mexicano recovers the timeless power of the stage to create an experience of transformation, allowing performance to become offering.|
Butoh Ritual Mexicano challenges our personal behaviours and inherited conventions, and reaches deeper, to rescue the lost parts of the human being.
To truly awaken the body is a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual process. The trainings consist of high-impact aerobic training, active meditation, and guided improvisation, all grounded in a space of communal ritual. The practice includes stretching, shaking, jumping, low-level groundwork, balancing, partnering, bioenergetics, breath expansion, and transpersonal communication. The integration of these techniques invites a new level of sensory awareness to emerge in each participant and in the group as a whole.
