Welcome to Gathering Together for Terra Madre, 2014. We hope you'll enjoy chef JC Mersmann's inspired cuisine in the beautiful garden room at Gathering Together Farm.
News Flash: We now have a menu!*
*Note that chef JC doesn't consider menus "legally binding"! We reserve the right to go crazy creative, once the innovative local new and traditional ingredients have arrived in the kitchen... ;-)
Mixed GTF Greens with Jim's Purple Tomatoes Shrimp, JIm's Mild Habanero Peppers, and Corn with Puff Pastry Bollito d'Agnello (that would be poached and seared lamb, folks!) with CBN Yellow Beans, Baby Carrots, Cippolini etc... For Dessert...Something cold? Maybe a basil sorbet in sweet tomato broth?
ANOTHER NEWS FLASH: thanks to an even more generous donation from Casa Bruno, we will be selling wine for just $5 a glass at the event (cash or checks only please.) Wow!
The event will start at 5:30, when we'll taste new varieties of vegetables developed by the Culinary Breeding Network (CBN; http://culinarybreedingnetwork.wordpress.com/) guided by Lane Selman, and Jim Myers of Oregon State University.
The meal will begin around 6 pm, and will be comprised of three courses, with the main course featuring lamb by Dot Ranch (http://dotranchchurros.com/) and vegetables developed by the CBN.
We'll also get the chance to meet Mickey Clayton of Dot Ranch, and Linda Ziedrich (http://www.lindaziedrich.com/Home/linda-s-blog) food preserver and writer, our area's two Terra Madre delegates for this year.
A variety of wines, generously donated by Casa Bruno of Portland, will be available for sale by the glass for THE NEW LOW PRICE OF $5!! Wine can be purchased with cash or checks, thanks! Sorry we will be unable to accept credit card payments at the event.
Seating for the event will be "family style". When you check in on arrival, you'll be given a place card which you may place wherever you would like to sit. You will likely be joining other individuals at whatever table you select- we hope you'll enjoy this opportunity to make new friends. Since it's a fundraiser we need to ensure that every seat is occupied to maximize the assistance we can provide to our Terra Madre participants.
Due to the nature of the event we regret that we're unable to provide modified meals (vegetarian, vegan etc.)
All proceeds of the meal (above and beyond costs), will go to supporting Terra Madre participants and future Slow Food Corvallis projects.
Visit the Slow Food Corvallis website for more details: http://slowfoodcorvallis.org/home/events-coming-up/.
