OAKLAND, CA - In March of 2015, the Women's A Cappella Association (WACA) will host the third annual SheSings Festival - in Oakland, CA!
In an effort to further the reach of powerful female a cappella in America - and around the world - WACA founded an annual festival dedicated to fostering the creativity and unique spirit of women in the a cappella community. We are thrilled to continue the tradition that was forged two years ago, and to bring this influential weekend of music and learning to an exciting new location: Oakland - in addition to being home to "The Sing-Off" stars from Oakland School for the Arts, Vocal Rush - is a hip and vibrant city that will serve as the new home of WACA's annual festival, SheSings. Oakland is easily accessible from OAK and SFO airports by public transit and a 20-minute train ride from San Francisco. We can't wait to take this city by storm!
WACA believes in the power of the female voice and spirit. We seek to encourage musical integrity and creativity in women throughout the a cappella community. We aim to educate and inspire, and to create a forum of open discussion, mutual respect and unwavering support for current and future women in a cappella. The first SheSings Festival gave WACA the opportunity to work toward all of these aims in a positive, nurturing and inspiring environment. The second festival expanded upon what had been created in our inaugural year by adding the release of our first a cappella compilation and an informative panel discussion.
We look forward to offering more than ever to this year's attendees through an exciting new format, informative and inspiring workshops, and a Saturday evening showcase that will serve as a truly extraordinary highlight of the weekend. This year, our headliners are ARORA (formerly Sonos), a powerhouse vocal band (also previously featured on "The Sing-Off") that expertly utilizes its strong voices and arsenal of electronics to create an innovative and exciting sound. We are thrilled to feature them at this year's festival.
You won't want to miss this year's SheSings Festival, so join us, and find out how you can join in the upward trend of pitch-perfect all-female a cappella!
