Many earnest films have been made recently about the struggles of Latin American migrants trying to cross into the U.S. for a better tomorrow; this isn't one of them. Against his wifes wishes, Manuel decides to cross the border into the US to visit his condemned father in a Texas prison, with his videocam toting pal Diego along for the ride. Mistaken identities, family drama, and dehydration complicate the quest, but Manuel finally learns a familiar lesson: There's no place like home even if home is not all that great.
