An Evening with Red Pine and Brice Marden
Join Brice Marden at his Manhattan studio for an evening benefiting Copper Canyon Press, a nonprofit publisher of poetry.
Wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served at 7:00p.m., with a reading by Red Pine at 8:00p.m.
Red Pine is an internationally celebrated and Guggenheim award-winning translator and scholar of Chinese poetry. Translations include "Cold Mountain Poems," "Lao-tzu's Taoteching," Sung Po-jen's "Guide to Capturing a Plum Blossom," and dozens of other titles. Proceeds from this evening will support the publication of Red Pine's final book, "Finding Them Gone."
Brice Marden famously found inspiration in the calligraphed poems and songs of the Chinese T'ang Dynasty poet called Cold Mountain, discovered in a book translated by Red Pine. Despite their shared creative lineage, this event marks the first meeting of Marden and Red Pine. A discussion between Marden, Red Pine, and the Executive Editor of Copper Canyon Press will follow.
This promises to be a very special evening and space is highly limited. Please make your donation here to reserve a ticket today. If you would prefer to donate by check, please make it payable to Copper Canyon Press, note "Marden and Red Pine" in the memo line, and send to P.O. Box 271, Port Townsend, WA. Ticket purchases for this event are considered tax deductible donations.
