Ahoy there, mateys! Join us as we set sail on our maiden voyage across the high seas of the F.O.E. pool. In this engineering challenge, teams will design, construct, and RACE cardboard vessels across these treacherous waters.
The 2014 Dallas Cardboard Regatta is a CHARITY FUNDRAISER benefiting the Vogel Alcove and Spokes for Folks. Proceeds will be donated to the Vogel Alcove, which provides child care services for homeless families. We will also be collecting gently used bicycles, parts and tools for Spokes for Folks, which refurbishes bicycles for needy children and families. For more information on either of these groups, please take a look at their websites: https://www.vogelalcove.org/ and http://www.spokesforfolks.org/
For those hardy souls wishing to ENTER A BOAT into the race, please review the race basics, including construction guidelines: http://bit.ly/cardboardboatregatta. A REGISTRATION form must also be completed for each boat: http://bit.ly/cardboardboatregattaregistration. A boat is not considered registered until the form AND payment have been received.
Anyone not racing is invited to come out and WATCH the spectacle as nothing but a thin layer of cardboard will separate these brave sailors from a watery demise! For landlubbers, we suggest a $5 minimum donation at the door.
In addition to the boat race, there will be RAFFLE PRIZES, FOOD available for purchase, and the F.O.E. bar will be open for all of your BEVERAGE needs. SWIMMING will be allowed at no extra cost after the race is complete.
Rain date is Sunday, September 28th.
