October 4th Farm Dinner -- Executive Chef Mike Simmons
2:30pm: Everyone will meet at the lovely Greenhouse Bed and Breakfast -- just down the road from Mint Creek Farm. We'll gather on the trolley and head to Mint Creek Farm for a first-hand, interactive tour of our farm, where you'll get out amongst the animals and learn all the ins and outs of the place from head farmer Harry Carr. We recommend wearing shoes you don't mind getting dirty.
5pm(ish): The trolley will return guests to the Greenhouse Bed and Breakfast where we'll enjoy a fantastic meal prepared by Executive Chef Mike Simmons of Rootstock, Chicago. His meal will feature various Mint Creek meats, as well as available produce from Three Plaid Farmers and the Greenhouse B&B.
Country pate with mustard and pickles
Roasted carrot salad with ranch and cultured butter
Toasted eggplant in crispy goat vinaigrette with smoked tomatoes and baba ganoush
Duck charga with curried turnips and grilled frisee
Roasted rack and braised ribs of lamb
with braised greens, beet bread dumplings, celery root agrodolce and lamb bacon
Sweet potato pie with butterscotch caramel, toasted marshmallow, and christkindlmarkt pecans
BYOB -- Bring your favorite libation(s) to pair with your meal and we'll be off to the races!
These are incredibly kid-friendly events, and might just be the perfect way to celebrate the arrival of Autumn. We'd love to see you!
