Raquy and the Cavemen -- Concert + Workshop -- Save $10!
This ticket option includes both the concert and a workshop on Sunday, Oct 4th, 1-3pm at Jamtown.  Take your dumbek fingers to the next level!   Priced separately the concert and workshop are $45.

Raquy and the Cavemen, renowned for progressive Middle Eastern music and percussions with the driving energy of a hard rock band, perform a special Seattle concert as part of their 2009 Northwest tour, with guest artists percussionist Erik Brown and belly dance artists Delilah, Suzanna and TriBellas!

In a world where Middle Eastern drumming has traditionally been the realm of Arabic males, Raquy Danziger is an anomaly. Audiences are not only surprised by this young woman from America, but captivated by her virtuosity, profound musicality and the passion she brings to performances. Her varied repertoire includes traditional Middle Eastern music as well as her own compositions.

Raquy has shared the stage with masters such as Ross Daly, Omar Faruk Tekbilek and performed as a soloist with Saiid El Artist (the most famous dumbek player in Egypt) and his 15-piece drumming troupe. Her band, Raquy and the Cavemen, plays electrifying percussion compositions as well as traditional Middle Eastern songs with Raquy on the Iranian Kemenche. Raquy teaches scores of students locally in NYC and hundreds more at drumming camps and retreats around the country. She has released six albums as well as two dumbek instructional kits, which include a book, DVD and CD,

This event is co-presented by David Chaus (World Rhythm Festival Director), Planet Suzanna, and Seattle World Percussion Society.
