Behind the Table: Meet the Artisans of Pike Place Market
Friday, October 24: Meet the artisans of Pike Place Market in an intimate fundraising event to benefit The Market Community Safety Net

"In these times of need, we are taking direct action. The craft community is coming together to help build and strengthen the safety net for the entire Market family." -Sharon Shaw

Pike Place Producers and The Market Foundation present: BEHIND THE TABLE:  MEET THE ARTISANS OF PIKE PLACE MARKET

The artists, designers and craftspeople of Pike Place Market will host a one-of-a-kind evening filled with local art, entertainment and live music. Proceeds from this event will directly benefit The Market Community Safety Net, a fund that provides financial assistance to anyone working or living in Pike Place Market when in a time of great need.

Enjoy drinks and a fine sampling of market comfort food while watching live art demonstrations. Experience the cuteness of the Children of The Market Fashion Show. Get your photo taken with Sasquatch and a temporary tattoo designed by a market artist. Start your holiday shopping off right by bidding on an exceptional array of truly local products in our silent and live auction.

This is an all volunteer event. Come shake hands with the artisans of Pike Place Market and learn more about our diverse and vibrant market community. We want YOU to be a part of our story.

The Market Community Safety Net is a fund intended to provide temporary emergency financial assistance to Market farmers, merchants and residents when faced with hardship. It can help a person or family from encountering an unnecessary spiral into excess debt or loss of livelihood or housing. It is administered by The Market Foundation. In May 2014, The Market Foundation granted an additional $3,000 into the fund. Through this event, the artists hope to increase the fund by $50,000. Pike Place Producers are the artists, designers and craftspeople who work alongside each other at the Market every day. They play a crucial role in the vibrancy of Pike Place Market not only in the diversity of art they sell but also in the community which they provide to each other and those around them. They are a group of fiercely independent micro-businesses working together for a common cause. Learn more:  www.pikeplaceproducers.com

The Pike Place Market Foundation is the heart of the Market. Established in 1982, The Market Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports housing and services for our low-income neighbors by fundraising, advocacy and community building. Over the past 32 years, The Market Foundation has contributed to a neighborhood model that allows a diverse community to live and thrive here at Pike Place Market.
