Music = Sight and Sound
Music = Sight and Sound brings together four solo works (including two world premieres) for four different instruments. Matthew Hough's new work for bassoon, written for Annie Lyle, pushes the boundaries of what is possible on the instrument, while Inhyun Kim's "Seeds disperse in the air to come", written for Carmel Raz is an understated, minimal tour-de-force. These two world premieres will be followed by Reiko Fueting's "red wall" for solo guitar, written for Dan Lippel, and a rarely heard piece by John Cage, "Music Anonymously Recieved", which will be performed in a new realization by Matthew Hough and an as-yet unknown assistant. All of this will be accompanied by visual and video art by a surprise guest!
Music = is a new music organization directed by Inhyun Kim and Matthew Hough. Our mission is to give voice to new and lesser-known works, particularly those incorporating extramusical elements such as video, poetry or theater. By breaking down the boundaries between music, art, and social/political issues, Music = aims to redefine what music can be, and what it can do. We are currently awaiting recognition as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
