Halloween Dance Party with the Mama Rocks! Band, featuring Ashley Gramins
On Thursday, October 29th, dress up in costume and join the Halloween Dance Party! Ashley Gramins will be singing songs from her album "Mama Rocks!" as well as other catchy kid-friendly tunes like Taylor Swift and Hannah Montana. Before the concert, there will be tricks and treats and a raffle with prizes for moms (think in-home private wine tasting and spa certificates) and for kids, too (think Kidville and Metropolitan Moms classes).
There will be two concerts: 1-3 p.m. and 4-6 p.m.
Put on your Halloween costume and get ready to dance and play! The Brick Church Deacons invite all children (and adults) to come dressed in costume to dance and sing along for a good cause. This event is open to everyone, so bring your friends!
This Halloween party and concert will benefit the Jan Hus Homeless Outreach and Advocacy Program, serving the homeless and working poor in your neighborhood.
Jan Hus is a small Presbyterian congregation on East 74th Street that offers desperately needed services to the poor and homeless through its Homeless Outreach and Advocacy Program (HOAP). On weekdays, HOAP tends to the needs of more than 50 guests, offering food, clothing and toiletries, as well as counseling and job-seeking services such as use of computers, phones, fax machines and photocopiers.
HOAP receives almost all of their funding from neighbors on the Upper East Side. After the city closed its only Upper East Side homeless drop-in-shelter last year, the number of clients that HOAP serves has nearly tripled.
While there is a critical need to increase staff to assist guests with vital information about housing, benefits, and public assistance, the funds from Mama Rocks! will be used primarily to buy food to support the soup kitchen and the food pantry, as this is the most overwhelming and urgent need. Please help us help HOAP!
URBAN BABY calls Mama Rocks! "as appealing to adults as children"
HAMPTONS MAGAZINE said "Gramins' soothing clear voice is sure to make even the most 'aggro' tots slowdown and chill out."
The music comes from Folk-Rock artist Ashley Gramins' 2007 CD for moms, dads, grandparents, children or anyone who is thinking about having a child. The songs have a sophisticated sound for adult ears, while keeping the interest of little ears too. Ashley was born into a family of musicians and classically trained. She has performed in musicals as well as dramatic theater, done commercial and voice-over work, and has fronted numerous bands. In New York, she has been a featured gospel soloist with the Metro Mass Choir performing at Town Hall and performed at the finals for FORTUNE Magazines "Corporate Battle of the Bands" at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Tickets for this event are $45 for Adults and $35 for Children. Siblings 12 months and younger are free. Stroller space is limited. All proceeds benefit Jan Hus.
