War of the Roses Wine Tasting
Some wines are ethereal, some chewy and substantial, others, finessed, but at this point in the year, when the heat and my lack of air conditioning is driving me to within an inch of insanity, the most important quality I look for in a wine is its gulpability. Enter Rose. Contrary to popular belief, not all Roses are the same, and were setting up the ultimate side by side tasting comparison on our back patio. no powerpoint, very limited talking, so as to maximize our time for drinking. We will have bone-dry, French Cotes de Provence, Garrigue and plum scented Bandol, juicy garnacha from Spain, several offers from italy, austria, and all over the new world. Along the way, you'll also find that Rose can be some pretty serious stuff, from the long aged, tannin infused styles of Lopez de Heredia in Rioja, to the Savory/Strawberry notes of Valentini's $$$ Montepulciano rosato.
