Is Eating Gluten Worth the Risk? with Rodney Ford, MD
Many people cope with persistent medical and mental problems that confound their doctors--from headaches to stomach aches, eczema to acne, anxiety to agitation, weight gain to weight loss, sleep issues to vitamin deficiencies, and more. Increasingly, some people are discovering that gluten is the trigger for their own or their child's chronic health problems. Gluten in a protein that is found in certain grains, namely wheat, rye and barley.
There are more than 250 documented symptoms of gluten-related disorders, and the symptoms can vary between adults and children, and even between infants and adolescents. And yet, more than 90% of Americans who have gluten-related disorders are undiagnosed or misdiagnosed with other conditions and 6 to10 years is the average time a person waits to be correctly diagnosed. Learn more about how gluten could be affecting your health (or your child's health) from Rodney Ford, MD, a world-renown gastroenterologist, allergist, and pediatrician from New Zealand speaking at the Mill Valley Community Center on Tuesday, September 30 at 6 pm.
A gastroenterologist, allergist and pediatrician from New Zealand, Dr. Ford has 35 years of clinical experience helping patients discover whether gluten is connected to symptoms ranging from gut to skin to mood to autoimmune disorders and beyond.
Hors d'oeuvres--gluten-free, of course!-- and wine will be served starting at 6pm. The talk will begin at 7pm and run for approximately 2 hours.
