Rachel Browne, Hailey and Her Imaginary Friends, Will Farr --Hurrah! A Bolt of Light!
Rachel Browne
http://www.rachelbrowne.net/ Rachel was born a couple of decades back and has spent a good portion of those years playing music. From early memories of riding in her mother's car listening to tapes of the Talking Heads and the Clash to sitting around at her father's gigs as a little girl, everything seems to have been based around music since the beginning. Her influences range from My Bloody Valentine to Beck, from early Leonard Cohen to the Breeders, from Joy Division to Elliott Smith.
Hailey and Her Imaginary Friends
http://www.haileywojcik.com/ The unlikely combination of ukulele and xylophone kick things off on the latest release from Michigan native Hailey Wojcik. "Don't tell me how much you admire the writing of/ The Russian author Vladimir Nabokov" she sings in "Nabokov's Butterfly," highlighting the unlikely rhyme with a voice as relaxed as a summer dayÂsomewhere between Liz Phair and Nick Drake.
