"Comedy Returns to El Rio" where comedian/Kung Pao Kosher Comedy Producer got her comedic start 20 years ago.
This diverse line-up showcases some of San Francisco's funniest and smartest stand up comics and takes place every 2nd Monday of the month at 7:30pm.
The Monday, July 13th show features the comedy of:
Dan St Paul, after a 7-year stint headlining SF clubs in the comedy duo Murphy-St.Paul, launched out on his own with a solo act that landed him in the finals of The SF Comedy Competition. Having grown up in The Mission, Dan moved to LA and appeared on several episodes of An Evening at the Improv, numerous shows on VH-1, MTV, and Comedy Central. He has opened for Jerry Seinfeld, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, and others. A lot of Dan's material comes from being a suburban husband and father.
Aundre the Wonderwoman set her sights on political humor from the beginning. She uses the stage as her bully pulpit, taking on everything from presidential politics to animal lovers. She took first place at the 1999 Russian River Resort Comedy Competition, was a semi-finalist in the 2005 SF Comedy Competition, and is the recipient of the 2008 Stand Up For Justice Award from Death Penalty Focus for her legal work against the death penalty.
Lynn Ruth Miller is a 74 year old comic who started doing comedy at 71. She recently won the People's Choice Award at The Branson Comedy Festival, has appeared for several consecutive years at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, her cabaret comedy show won "Star of Brighton" at the Brighton Comedy Festival in England, and she moved forward to the quarter finals in Bill Words' "Funniest Female in California" contest.
Ryan Kasmier is a gay, San Francisco-based stand up comedian whose comedy is very straight friendly. He placed 2nd in the 2007 Battle of the Bay Comedy Competition and plays regularly at The Comedy Clubhouse, Harvey's, and The Russian River Resort. Erin Souza is a transgendered comic who began performing when she was still a he, at junior college speech competitions.
