Description
Please join us for an exclusive screening of "The Slanted Screen: Asian Men in Film & Television," a new documentary film (www.slantedscreen.com) written, directed and produced by Jeff Adachi.

The film, which won "Best Documentary" at the NY International Independent Film & Video Festival, covers nearly 100 years of cinematic history, and includes interviews with actors James Shigeta, Mako, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Dustin Nguyen, Jason Scott Lee and comedian Bobby Lee.

A panel discussion entitled Influencing the Image-Makers will immediately follow the screening.  Industry executives, including Screen Actors Guild President Allen Rosenberg and Chemin Bernard, President of Casting Society of America, will discuss strategies to increase diversity in film and television.  The program will also include a special tribute to the late actor Mako, who is featured in the film.

The event includes a catered reception and cast party, including Dustin Nguyen, Tzi Ma, James Shigeta, Cary Tagawa and other cast members, beginning at 6:30pm in the Grand Lobby.

This event is sponsored by the Directors Guild of America, the Screen Actors Guild, the Casting Society of America, the Center for Asian American Media, the Writers Guild AAWC, the Producers Guild, the Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment, Visual Communications and East West Players.
