Vegetable Gardening 101: Planning & Planting Your First Garden
Do you want to start a vegetable garden? Not quite sure where to begin? In this informative beginner's class, Master Gardener David Blood will cover veggie garden fundamentals such as site selection and preparation, sun requirements and garden bed orientation. Attendees will learn how to assess and amend their soil with compost and fertilizer to make it productive. Learn what veggies you can plant in the spring, how to plant them and how to keep them watered. David will also discuss common garden problems and provide easy solutions to get you on your way to a bountiful harvest.
Instructor's Bio: David Blood has been an avid vegetable gardener for 40+ years and a Master Gardener for the past 13. He grows food at home and co-manages the Master Gardener Trials Garden at Lake Merritt, experimenting with new vegetable varieties and techniques for producing food. He teaches gardening classes on a variety of topics throughout the Bay Area.
