| Description |
Light Opera Theatre of Sacramento (LOTS) is proud to present Gilbert & Sullivan's Ruddigore, or The Witches Curse. . . which was cast upon all the ancestors of Sir Rupert Murgatroyd (who live at Ruddigore) to commit one crime daily or else perish in unfathomable agony. Rose Maybud, the prettiest-- and most prim and proper--girl in town is caught between two suitors, one of whom is secretly a Murgatroyd (which is quickly revealed by the other jealous suitor). Confusion and comedy ensue until, finally, the curse is broken--or rather voided--by a simple and new interpretation. Many who have been wronged over the years are freed and reunited with their true love, including Rose.
We're proud to present this with a full and live orchestra, conducted by Sean Bianco. Debbie and Mike Baad--also founders of the company--are co-directors.
