3rd Annual North Puget Sound Conference On Race
The third annual North Puget Sound Conference On Race (NPSCOR) will take place on Saturday, May 17th, at Edmonds Community College. The conference is sponsored by the Communities of Color Coalition working in concert with the Snohomish County Chapter of NAACP, Familias Unidas, WSU Extension, Edmonds Community College, Everett Community College, and an array of other community sponsors. The conference has received significant financial support from the Verdant Health Commission.

The conference theme addresses three of the principal components contributing to the quality of life realized by persons and families of color in Snohomish County: Food, Health and Housing. The keynote address will be given by Dr. Paul Pitre, PhD, Dean of WSU - North Puget Sound at Everett. In addition to the keynote address, the conference will include three sequential panels of knowledgeable individuals focused on food, health and housing. Each panel will break into discussion groups lead by the panelists.

As in prior conferences, the primary focus is providing both information and skills-development opportunities that will help participants return to their communities better prepared to address the individual or institutional racism, cultural or religious intolerance, linguistic barriers, and the like that may limit the ability of those subjected to such treatment to obtain the food, health care or housing they need.
