SHOWGAME
Conceived and directed by Talya Epstein in collaboration with Halee Beucler, Cherie Burnett, and Maggie Jones

Audience members are instructed to count aloud as the performers engage in aggressive physical force games. This audience engagement makes the performers hyper-dependent on the audience, while creating confusion as to who exactly is in control of the unfolding events.

Talya Epstein is a dance artist from Massachusetts who relocated to Brooklyn this past June. Her choreography has been supported by World Music/CRASHarts and the Massachusetts Cultural Council. She was also chosen to participate in the New England Foundation for the Arts' Regional Dance Development Initiative, allowing her the opportunity to perform at Connecticut College and Concord Academy. Since moving to New York she has shown work through Movement Research at the Judson Church. Talya spent one year at Arizona State University before graduating magna cum laude from The Boston Conservatory. She is also a member of the dance band Borts Minorts in which she performs,spandex-clad, as her alter ego Bonestein.

James McGinn was born and raised in Sarasota, Fl and recently graduated from Eugene Lang College, the New School for Liberal Arts. He has attended the American Dance Festival for the past eight years and has enjoyed performing in the work of John Jasperse, Miguel Gutierrez, Ishmael Houston-Jones, Wally Cardona, Jen McGinn, Tatiana Baganova, & Trisha Brown, among others. In the summer of 07, James was in residence at The Yard, on Martha's Vineyard for Patricia N. Nanon's final residency. He has taught and presented work along the east coast and is a founding member of The Presidents, a dance band.
