Movementpants
"La Spectra", Movementpants latest full length piece of devised, ensemble dance-theater, is the company's most ambiguously ambitious to date. Beginning as an exploration of themes surrounding the burgeoning neurodiversity movement, which states that neurological difference should be recognized and respected as any other human variation, "La Spectra" is a vaudevillian half-way house, where the denizens of a lost Fellini film rescue themselves from the cutting room floor to entertain their audiences once more. Perfection, patience, comedy, horseback riding and dance are all on display as Movementpants vies for space in hearts and minds. Adrian Jevicki has been performing and creating dance and theater in New York since 2003. In 2006, he created Movementpants to explore the theatrical waters between clown and contemporary dance/performance. He has presented his genre-bending work ("hilarious"- TimeOut NY, "fascinating theater"- nytheater.com) at venues across the city including Dixon Place, The Brick Theater, The Tank, Mo' Pitkins, American Theater of Actors, the Mary Anthony Dance Studio and Spoke the Hub. Concerned primarily with themes surrounding science in contemporary society, Adrian tackles complex issues in simple ways and tells mood-driven stories with wit, charm, and the wisdom of utter naivete.
