August Acro Intensive
August Acro Intensive
With Crystal, Ariel, and Liz
"Practice for the sake of practice. Work diligently, patiently, and with persistency. Ultimately practice IS the path of mastery. For how you do anything, is how you do everything."
(adapted from Mastery by George Leonard)
Join us in August for a four-day Acro Intensive with three of the Bay Area's most sought after teachersCrystal Hatzmichael, Ariel Mihic and Liz Williams.
The curriculum being shared has been designed to solidify your current practice, and help take it to the next level. The objective of the Intensive is total immersion; with time to learn new skills; training techniques to make you stronger and more adept; and a personalized plan for each individual/partnership for areas of focus moving forward.
Over the course of four days we will train and play to refine the basic language of Acro, studying specific poses such as reverse star variations, foot to foot, hand to hand, slacker-variations, goofy and monolimbs, and transitions between these poses. We will explore Dutch style acrobatic concepts that utilize tempo and momentum, as well as standing moves like Vlinder (high butterfly), high bird, two-high, hand to hand, and trio work. Elements of Base and Flyer Bootcamps will also be included to add proficiency, technique, and role-specific training.
Each day will incorporate YogaSlacker style conditioning, inversion training, and hand-to-hand balancing as appropriate for the level of the student. Sessions will be structured to incorporate tools for effective communication in partnership, safety with spotting, and adherence to the principle of honest self-assessment. Each participant will receive a private session with one of the instructors to work on a specific skill of basing, flying or handstand-ing, and every one will leave the immersion with an individualized training program*.
Pre-requisites for the intensive include an understanding of basic Acro moves such as front plank (aka bird), shoulder stand, throne, and back fly. This is intended to be an All-Levels experience; we will offer progressions appropriate to your level of skill. Most importantly we aim to have fun while training hard, so come and join us for a four-day adventure in the practice of Acro. We can't wait to share our training styles with you!

About the Instructors:
Crystal Hatzmichael has been an AcroYogini for over 5 years. She is a fun, loving, and dedicated instructor. You can count on feeling joyful, comfortable and safe while gaining valuable skills when taking classes with her. With a background of over 11 years as a full-time massage therapist and 5 years teaching Vinyasa Flow classes, Crystal interweaves her knowledge from experience and trainings to support her students.
Ariel Mihic is a yogini with a passion for adventure and an insatiable curiosity to live a life less ordinary. She is an Ashtangi at heart, though her practice has evolved into all shapes and sizes, and lots more upside-down time. Ariel currently teaches as part of the YogaSlackers, sharing the modalities of AcroYoga, slackline yoga, acrobatics, and Thai massage. She redefines balance in every aspect of her life, finding passion in the endless search for wisdom, compassion, and the elusive art of slowing down. Ariel has a Doctorate in Pharmacy and certifications in the following yoga disciplines: Ashtanga, AcroYoga, YogaSlackers, Thai Massage/Pranassage.
Liz Williams brings to every endeavor a passion and zeal that surpasses the ordinary. She is inspired by her friend Foster's credo, "anything is accessible with an accessible mind." She has pursued a path focused on unlocking both physical and spiritual limitations. With her years as a competitive athlete as a base, her yoga and meditation practices bring balance into a life predicated on pushing the limits. Her heartfelt desire is to continue to deepen and enrich her practice and to share the bounty -- strength, meaning, peace, and fun! Liz is a licensed physical therapist, certified massage therapist, certified yoga therapist and YogaSlacker teacher.
