The Steam Powered Hour
The Steam Powered Hour is a smart and cozy night of bluegrass music, standup comedy, short films, and cartoons hosted by The New Yorker cartoonist Matthew Diffee. Past performers include folks like Chris Thile, Gillian Welch, and Demetri Martin.
This installment features the music of Michael Daves. The New York Times called him a virtuoso and a dazzling guitarist and fearless singer at the heart of a burgeoning New York City bluegrass scene. The Boston Herald got a bit more expressive and called him a punk-grass force of nature.
Weve also got a couple of the best comedic storytellers in New York City: James Braly, described as never less than excellent by The New York Times and gaspingly funny by Variety, and Adam Wade, whom youve seen on Comedy Centrals Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn and in his regular appearances on ESPN Classic. Hes also a record twelve-time StorySLAM Champion of The Moth storytelling series.
