This Is Not A Fashion Show : An Upcycling Design Event
Govanhill Baths Community Trust community upcycling project Rags to Riches created their first unique brand of upcycling events (This Is Not A Craft Fair) in 2012 and is now diving into the world of models, war paint and big hair .Although, in true slow fashion, we are going to do things differently!
'This Is Not A Fashion Show' will include a catwalk of intriguing and beguiling upcycled creations set in the historic Govanhill baths main pool. With a bespoke stage created by our in-house theatre group, a number of models from all walks of life will adorn a range of upcycled garments from a range of designers such as 'Beautiful Brastards' witty upcycled bras, Glasgow Fleamark's zingy clothing ,fresh graduate talent 'Sarah Morbey' with her Fashioning Waste's collection and Bedlam Boudoir upcyled festival fancies amongst others.
This unique fashion show will also bring together an eclectic mix of organisations including 'Glasgow Clyde College' fashion students showcasing works created for one their upcycling project, Urban Roots' Interactive Garden dresses and '85A Collective' ultimately energetic range of performance costumes.
The Rags to Riches team will create of collection of boldly upcycled garments bringing tutors, volunteers and participants to further explore the wonders of creative re-use.
'Louna Productions' will also bring a hint of storytelling following environmental themes and 'Altronica' will again create one of his spectacular art installations.
An interval will provide an opportunity for refreshments, short film screening stations, educational stalls along with Glasgow's upcyclers selling and showcasing their product ranges .
So whether you are are an eco-fashionista; someone who wants to find out more about sustainability, creative re-use and the burgeoning slow fashion movement or a punter who fancies a fun and unique night out in support of Govanhill Baths Community Trust there will be something here for you!
