Art for a Free Taiwan is a traveling exhibit of posters promoting democracy in Taiwan by political artists in the tradition of resistance art of the Spanish Civil War, Mai 1968 and the United Farmworkers Movement. Current featured artists include Peter Kuper (Spy vs. Spy), Nicole Schulman (NY Times contributor), Mac McGill (World War III Illustrated contributor) and Josh MacPhee (Just Seeds Collective). Posters will be available for sale for $25, or just have a cup of coffee or tea with us before the screening!
ALMOST HOME: TAIWAN is a feature documentary that reveals the untold story of Taiwan's struggle for democracy through a family road-trip back home. In the documentary, filmmaker Victoria Linchong returns to Taiwan with her family, searching for long-lost connections and becoming re-acquainted with the unique culture of the island and its wild beauty. Bridging the deeply personal and globally political, Almost Home: Taiwan clarifies the controversies surrounding Taiwan, while introducing viewers to raucous night markets, aboriginal festivals, sacred trees and kissing fish.
