Description
Chicago Acoustic Underground's founder, Michael Teach lost his Mother to this terrible disease in 2007 and in 2008 the 1st annual Pancreatic Cancer Benefit Concert was created to support the early detection of this cancer as it is the only known way to survive this cancer.

He found the perfect organization to receive the fruits of these concerts in the Michael Rolfe Pancreatic Cancer Foundation (www.rolfefoundation.org). Their primary goal is to fund the research into this early detection as well as an ultimate cure to pancreatic cancer.

The first concert raised just short of $15,000 and our goal for this year's event is $50,000. Certainly a lofty goal in these economic times, but the more we raise, the sooner fewer people will die because of early detection.

This year's venue is the 1900 seat Copernicus Center (www.copernicusfdn.org). This architecturally beautiful facility built in 1930 as Chicago's first movie theater exclusively built for "Talkies" (movies with sound)has excellent acoustical properties along with sophisticated sound and lights. The Copernicus Center has parking for 400 cars. It has a full service bar in the 3 story atrium lobby. It is 2 blocks from the Kennedy expressway, 3 blocks from the Lawrence Blue Line stop, and 2 blocks from the Metra Jefferson Park station.

CAU was founded with the concept of nurturing and supporting the singer/songwriter community in Chicago and remains true to that concept with this benefit concert. The lineup will include CAU alumni like Chicago's venerable Heartsfield with their amazing 5 part harmonies. National touring artist Donna Frost band supporting her new CD release. CAU managed Americana band Goodbyehome and several surprise artists to be posted shortly.

Please join me for an evening of Chicago's original music and support of research into pancreatic cancer.

Michael Teach, Host
