The Choral Arts Society and the West Village Chorale team up to present two of the twentieth century's most celebrated choral spectaculars, along with music from multiple choirs. This is grand, glorious, inspiring choral music and a "must hear" concert!
CARMINA BURANA, Carl Orff's unique and vibrant setting of the offhand scribblings of medieval monks. Bawdy, sensual, imaginative and musically stunning. Performed by the combined 100 voices of the CAS and WVC, along with two pianos and a battery of percussion.
CHICHESTER PSALMS, Leonard Bernstein's choral masterpiece of settings in Hebrew from the Psalms. Spans a range of moods from contemplative to angry, to peaceful, with gorgeous melodies. Also scored for two pianos and percussion. |
