Cornell Woolrich reinvented suspense fiction for the 20th Century. During four decades, hundreds of his stories appeared in popular American pulp magazines while motion picture directors as varied as Hitchcock and Truffaut memorably translated into such classic films as Rear Window and The Bride Wore Black. Woolrich died alone in a Manhattan hotel room in 1968.

9pm SCREENING OF PHANTOM LADY Henderson, a handsome and successful 32-year-old civil engineer, picks up a mysterious woman in a bar and they go out. The woman refuses to exchange names, becoming the phantom lady of the film. When he returns home, he finds cops waiting to question him because his wife has been murdered with his necktie.

7pm SCREENING OF BLACK ANGEL A falsely convicted man's wife, Catherine (June Vincent), and an alcoholic piano man, Martin (Dan Duryea) team up in an attempt to clear husband of the murder of the drunkard's wife. Their investigation leads them to face-to-face confrontations with a determined policeman (Crawford) and a shifty nightclub owner (Lorre). Catherine, as the investigation goes on, begins to suspect her new partner of the crime.
