Thunderheads in Concert
To commemorate 30 years of music together, Thunderheads' original and current lineups will be celebrating with a concert at the Parkway Theater, 4814 Chicago Ave. S. Mpls. The concert will feature a combination of their original music from the "Primitive Hope" and "Can't Stop Time" albums as well as their favorite covers. In 1984 a conversation at a Pat Matheny concert between Steve Blexrud and Craig Paquette led to what has become a 30 year musical collaboration. Steve was playing in a band with keyboardist Bill Godin and harmonica and vocalist Bruce Paquette. Craig was playing with bass player Brad McDonald and soon after drummer Erik Jacobson was added. Just before the release of their first CD, Primitive Hope in 1996, the band's name was changed to Thunderheads. For the next 12 years, Thunderheads performed regularly at the region's best venues with the same core members. With two original members Steve Blexrud and Craig Paquette on guitars and vocals, Thunderheads and Thunderheads Duo currently do over 60 shows a year with Don Blue on bass and Eric Brown on drums.
