IMake #music, Make Friends, Have Fun -Summer at OPC!
Rhythms of the Earth
We are excited about our Rhythms of the Earth curriculum this summer which will be delivered by some of Oakland's finest artists, teachers, permaculture practitioners and Certified Permaculture Designers: Afia Walking Tree, Konda Mason and Ashara Ekundayo. Along with our core faculty Fallon Blaser, James Gayles, Carolina Gonzalez, Justin Philip Nash, Michael Shiono, Afia Walking Tree and Angela Wellman, we welcome this summer's artist-in-residence from Jamaica, percussionist/dancer, Ouida Lewis, direct from Kingston. Bringing closer attention to the body Amber McZeal brings the joys of vocal music through the spirit of her New Orleans birthplace and Alonzo Young will focus our attention on balance in the body through the practice of tai chi. We look forward to nurturing the flame that eternally burns within all of our souls.
We dedicate our work this summer to the life and legacy of Dr. Maya Angelou. She said, "Your eyes should light up when your children enter the room." After spending the summer with us at OPC, your eyes are certain to do just this.
Don't wait, enroll today and watch what happens.
The Summer Music Academy strives to create and engender a holistic, safe, and supportive environment for every student.
We look forward to seeing you!
