Queens New Music Festival: Comp Cond Ensemble
For their Queens New Music Festival performance, Comp Cord Ensemble will be joined by Bill Schimmel - accordion, Demetrius Spaneas - soprano sax, Damien Bassman - drums, and Jacob Miller - poet/narrator. The program will feature music of each composer/performer.
Each of the compositions was written for this particular ensemble, and highlights the performers' abilities, while giving the composers a unique opportunity to write for an unusual, mixed-instrumental combination. As with all Composers Concordance productions, the styles of the compositions range the spectrum of musical sound, and the only words that could describe them all would be: eclectic, all-encompassing, and genre-blurring.
