SUMMER CAMPS at the MAT
Join The Millibo Art Theatre for a summer of DRAMATIC ADVENTURES! Take a one or two-week workshop at the MAT and discover how to bring stories, characters and scenes to life.
We offer a variety of options for varying ages, interests and skill levels. Theatre Camps provide quality learning opportunities where students explore, create, discover and "play" through acting, mime, puppetry, movement theatre, Shakespeare, circus skills and more!
Workshops focus on experiential learning that fosters imaginative exploration, creative problem solving and dynamic expression. Small classes are taught by professional artists and teachers engaging students in hands-on explorations that develop new skills, build confidence and expand imaginations.

Peek inside the circus tent and discover what fun can be had playing, exploring, creating and imagining. You might walk the high wire or tumble out of a tiny car, no matter what, you'll have a delightfully fun week!

Discover a Shakespeare that is fun, relevant and oh so hip! Through theatre exercises, on-your-feet language explorations, in depth character studies and scene play we'll put together a vibrant and original performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream"!

Come sail across the seas to the land of the Wild Things. You'll be ruler for the day as we explore through music, movement, dramatic play and visual art.

Jump into Shakespeare's world as we create an original performance of Mr. Shakespeare's greatest hits! Shake up poetry as you inhabit the larger than life characters, incredible language and amazing stories in this exciting hands-on approach to Shakespeare. We'll build our own sets and costumes too!

MAT joins forces with the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale in this week long musical theatre intensive where you learn all about putting on a show. Have a blast as you dance, sing, build, play, act and create.

July 11 ~ 13 (Friday 6pm to 9pm, Saturday 9am to 5pm, Sunday 1pm to 5pm)
Master the art of "auditioning" in this weekend intensive that provides you with the tools to stand out in the crowd, get the part, shine in the role, impress the director and win those scholarships. Master classes with professional artists, private coachings and ensemble explorations bring your talents to the forefront. You'll leave with a new headshot, updated resume, one contemporary and one classical monologue, 16 bars of an audition song and the skills to succeed as you put your best foot forward. (Limited to 12 students.)

Join us for a two-week acting intensive where you'll discover a Shakespeare that is fun, relevant and oh so outrageous! We'll use theatre exercises, on-your- feet language explorations, in depth character and scene studies and creative text analysis to bring the characters and language of "A Midsummer Nights Dream" to life. Scenes, sonnets and soliloquies come together in an original site-specific performance for friends, family and the public!

MAKE A CIRCUS CAMP

Join the circus! In this two week intensive camp you'll learn acrobatics, juggling, tightrope walking, unicycling, stilt walking, trapeze, aerial silk and clowning on stage at the MAT. Led by seasoned circus performer, Jim Jackson, each class is tailored to the unique skills and interests of each student.

MAD ABOUT MOSAICS

Smash some dishes and discover the enchanting creations that emerge when broken tiles, found objects and a little imagination come into play. In this week long design and build class you'll create a unique work of art for yourself and participate in the creation of a public sculpture for the MAT!
