| Description |
One of the longest running, and most beloved musicals of all time, Les Miserables, is an epic tale of injustice, greed, sacrifice and love in the midst of the student uprising in France in the early to mid 1800s.
YMTC (Youth Musical Theater Company) is a Berkeley-based company that provides exceptional musical theater training and performance opportunities to passionate, talented young people. In year-round, rigorous programming including intensive workshops, small-scale performances, and three fully mounted musical productions, students from the seventh grade up to the university level, work under the guidance of professional musicians, designers, and theater artists from around the Bay Area.
From the time it incorporated as a non-profit in 2004, YMTC has enjoyed tremendous community and volunteer support, student enthusiasm and growing recognition of the professional caliber of our shows and the high quality of our workshops. Many of our students go on to prestigious university theater programs around the country; all of them, wherever they go, take with them confidence, empathy, responsibility, and the capacity to imagine. We passionately believe that when young people have opportunities to participate in exceptional training in the arts, they are becoming not only the next generation of artists and arts appreciators, but the next generation of engaged citizens: empowered to pay attention, communicate, and energetically participate in a collaborative process.
