You Are Invited To a Festive Special Event, Concert and Reception
Senator Mark Kirk Keynote Speaker at Greece-Israel TIEs Gala

U.S. Senator Mark Steven Kirk will be the keynote speaker Sept 14, 2014, at the CHI CIRCLE festivities to strengthen technology exchanges between Greece and Israel and celebrate the historic alliance between the two nations in the Eastern Mediterranean basin.

The celebration launches CHI's second phase in technology cooperation which will bring to Israel 10 Greek academicians in 2014. The first phase, in 2013, consisted of Israelis meeting Greek university professors in Thessaloniki, Greece. The visits are part of TIEs, CHI CIRCLE's Technology Innovation Exchanges.

Advanced researchers who originally held the Tech Transfer Roundtable 2013 in Thessaloniki, Greece, aiming to create a Greek model for transferring research from universities to the marketplace, will visit Chicago technology centers and inaugurate a phase of reciprocal meetings at Israeli universities next December.

The Sept. 14 event sponsored by CHI Circle includes Greek, Hebrew and Ladino songs by Athens-born international tenor Alberto Mizrahi, Cantor at Chicago's Anshe Emet synagogue, accompanied by award winning pianist Howard Levy. The 'Tradition of Miletus' awards will also be presented. The city of Miletus was the ancient center of technology and innovation.

In an unprecedented 2013 event by CHI Circle, scientists from Aristotle, Democritus, Volvos and Athens universities, held discussions with visiting researchers from Israel's Bar Ilan University.

The CHI Technology Innovation Exchanges (CHI TIEs) seeks to address the problem voiced by Greek researchers of the tech-to-market barrier. TIEs taps into the Greek and Israeli expertise to form research relationships as it explores best practices from Israel, the "Start-Up Nation." Israel's technology community has experienced groundbreaking levels of growth due to practices such as Technology Incubators intended to match research products from universities with funds to bring innovations to the marketplace. TIEs promotes scientific  discourse and technology cooperation. It bridges the gap between a problem faced by one country with and the possible solutions applied by another.
