Keynote Speaker: Vincent Stanley, Patagonia

Vincent StanleyVincent Stanley, Patagonia's long-time chief storyteller, co-authored the book In The Responsible Company, along with Yvon Chouinard, the founder and owner of Patagonia. Vincent draws on 40 years' experience and knowledge of current efforts by other companies, to articulate the elements of responsible business for our time.

In his keynote presentation, Stanley will recount how Patagonia, step by step and misstep, has made its work progressively more responsible, and now shares what it has learned with companies as large as Wal-Mart and as small as the corner microbrewery. He will describe some simple, crucial steps businesses can take to thrive in an uncertain economy while reducing their social and environmental harm. He argues the need for companies to: Reduce their environmental footprint (and its skyrocketing cost); Make legitimate products that last; Reclaim deep knowledge of their business and its supply chain to make the most of opportunities in the years to come; and Earn the trust (and business) they need by treating their workers, customers and communities fairly and with respect. Vincent will also share tips on how companies of all sizes can use sustainability reporting to further their sustainability efforts as well as their financial bottom line. Vincent is the perfect person to help bring our 2014 Future of Business - People, Planet, Profit Speaker Series to a close.
