Learn the art of game improvisation from members of Mr Aaron Presents flagship team, "Think Fast!"
Improvisation is the art of creating spontaneous theater from audience suggestions. Through improv, you build skills in communication, confidence, and trust all while having fun.
Drew McCalmon and Rory Franzen instruct weekly improv classes at Chinatown's Ong King Arts Center located at 184 N King St. Classes are every Tuesday, 7:30pm-9:30pm and are $10 each. All levels of experience are welcomed.
With 20 years of combined theater experience, students will receive a rich exposure of improvisation, both dramatic and comedic. Classes will teach students popular short form games while giving performance level notes for all levels of experience.
About the Instructors:
Drew McCalmon has over 15 years improv and theater experience. He received his improvisational training in Florida from the renowned SAK Comedy Lab in Orlando where he was a show host as well as well as a member of Generation 'S'. Drew is also an alumni member of Absent Minded Improv in Orlando and Comedy Buffet in Winter Haven. Since moving to Hawaii in 2012 Drew has become an active member in the improv community and joined Think Fast soon after arriving. Drew created and directs the sitcom-style long form "The BFF Show" which will be appearing in Improvaganza 2014.
Rory C Franzen has a collective 20 years of scripted and improvised theater experience. He began his improv comedy career in the short form, leading to his participation in international short form tournaments. Rory studied long form improvisation at the Laughtrack Theater Company in Honolulu where he eventually became an instructor and coach. Rory has coached 3 teams into Hawaii's Improvaganza Festival spotlight including Think Fast in 2013.
