Summerfest 2006: art and wine on the waterfront
Kirkland Arts Center (KAC) invites you to join artists, art lovers and oenophiles in sampling some of Washington State's finest wines at its 39th annual Summerfest 2006: art and wine on the waterfront, July 14-16. Summerfest 2006 will once again host a wine tasting event under the pavilion in downtown Kirkland's Marina Park, pairing the work of over 110 regional artists with Washington State wineries and local restaurants.
Each winery will feature up to three of their distinct varietals and winery staff and Washington State Wine Ambassadors will be available to discuss selections and answer questions. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase bottles of their favorite vintage from the Wine Shop for their enjoyment at home.
Featured wineries include Silver Spur Wines, Fort Walla Walla Cellars, Terra Blanca Winery, Piety Flats, Maryhill Winery, Basel Cellars Estate Winery, Whitman Cellars, Lowden Hills Winery, Brian Carter Cellars, Reininger Winery, and DiStefano Winery.
A tasting package can be purchased for $15 plus service fee in advance and $20 at the gate, and includes one souvenir wine glass and six tasting tickets. Individual tastes can also be purchased at the event for $2.50.
The Wine Garden will be open from 2:00pm - 9:00pm Friday, July 14; 12:00pm - 8:00pm Saturday, July 15; and 12:00pm - 4:30pm Sunday, July 16.
Summerfest 2006: art and wine on the waterfront supports Kirkland Arts Center and connects the community with the region's rich art and cultural offerings. KAC is home to a critically acclaimed non-profit gallery of contemporary art, presents visual arts education classes for 2,300 students of all ages each year and brings art to life through outreach programs such as Summerfest. The Arts Center is located in the 1891 historic landmark Peter Kirk Building, where it has educated and inspired the community for 43 years.
